Cristian Messenger (Mensajero Cristiano, in Spanish), a printed monthly Catholic newsletter of the Diocese of Oberá, Misiones (Argentina), required a new visual identification system to communicate the latest developments in the ecclesiastical sphere and serve as material for religious education.
The newsletter had to adhere to a limited number of pages. The design had to be appealing and of interest to laypeople, different from previous versions. The editorial design development required adhering to a specific format, with certain printing considerations, such as being in black and white inside. Additionally, as part of a new communication strategy, topics would be carefully assigned to each page.
A grid was developed that allowed visual elements to be arranged in different ways depending on the occasion, and a typographic choice with high performance was chosen due to the large amount of required text. The selected images and photographs were manipulated, and the pieces were intervened, producing new images. The cover and back cover images were of utmost importance, requiring the most time for development.
